25th Oct, 1936	Proclamation of “axis” binding Rome and Berlin	Proclimation of Axis binding The “axis” binding Rome and Berlin was an alliance formed in 1936 between Italy and Germany. The alliance was created by Italy’s foreign minister Galeazzo Ciano linking the two countries on October 25, 1936. It became definite with the Pact of Steel in 1939. The Axis Powers later included Japan as well.
25th Nov, 1936	German-Japanese Anti-Comintern Pact against the Soviet Union	Pact Against Soviet Union The Anti-Comintern Pact was between Germany and Japan. It appeared to be against the Communist International (Comintern), but was specifically against the Soviet Union. It was created because both countries came into conflict with Russia in their journey to expand. Germany and Japan were never given the chance to fully colonize like the other countries which is why they agreed to “team up” against one of the biggest empires in the world at the time.
22nd May, 1939	Full military and political alliance between Germany and Italy (Pact of Steel)	The Pact of SteelThe pact of steel is the formal agreement between Italy and Germany that officially formed the axis powers that would later include Japan.This pact linked the countries politically, militarily, and economically. The pact agreed there would be mutual assistance between countries, neither would agree to peace terms without consulting the other. Both sides also agreed there would be meetings/consultations about war plans and operations.
10th Jun, 1940	Italy entered World War II.	Italy Entered WW2 After World War I, Italy was in trouble economically. A dictator, Benito Mussoloni, then became in charge to restore order to the country as well as sign a military alliance with Germany in 1939. Italy entered World War II by invading France in 1940, and Mussoloni was soon arrested by the Allied Powers.
27th Sep, 1940	Tripartite (Axis) Pact signed by Germany, Italy and Japan	tripartite Axis Pact On this date, Japan officially joins the Axis Powers forming an alliance between Germany, Italy, and Japan by signing the Tripartite Pact in Berlin, Germany. The Tripartite Pact was “aimed” towards the United States who was neutral at the time, and its goal was to “make America think twice before joining the Allies.”
20th Nov, 1940	Hungary joins the Axis Powers	Hungary Joins Axis Powers Hungary was able to gain a decent amount of land by joining the Axis Powers and eventually, after being pressured by Germany, joined the Axis Powers on this date even though they were hoping not to get involved. Their forces participated in the Invasion of the Soviet Union and Yugoslavia.
23rd Nov, 1940	Romania joins Axis Powers	Final Map of Axis Powers More information At the beginning of World War II, Romania officially became neutral in the war, however because of the fall of Britain and France, the two countries they relied on most, they joined the Axis Powers in hopes of gaining more territory. Romania also joined the invasion of the Soviet Union by providing equipment, troops, and oil.
7th Dec, 1941	Bombing at Pearl Harbor	Bombing at Pearl Harbor Pearl Harbor Bombing In the morning, hundred of Japanese fighter planes attacked the naval base at Pearl Harbor in Honolulu, Hawaii. Twenty naval vessels and 200 airplanes were destroyed as well as more than 2,000 American soldiers killed. It was devastating to Americans ultimately leading to their involvement in the war.
8th Sep, 1943	Italy surrenders to Allies	Italy Surrenders On this date, Dwight Eisenhower announces the official surrender of Italy to the Allies in World War II. Germany reacted with Operation Axis and the Allies reacted with Operation Avalanche to invade Italy and defeated the Axis Powers.
30th Apr, 1945	Hilter Commits Suicide	Hitler Commits SuicideAdolf Hitler commits suicide by gunshot, and his wife commits suicide with him by ingesting cyanide. Both bodies were carried out an emergency exit, doused in a flammable liquid, and set on fire. There are many conflicting stories about Hitler’s death such as where did he die and in what way.
7th May, 1945	Germany surrenders to Allies	Germany Surrenders to Allies German troops throughout the countries that were a part of the Axis Powers surrendered to the Allies up until the day that Germany unconditionally surrendered. At headquarters in Reims, France, General Alfred Jodl of Germany surrenders as they sign the unconditional surrender documents to the Allies.
2nd Sep, 1945	Japan surrenders to Allies	Japan Surrenders to Allies Atomic Bombs After the Soviet Union declared war on the Japanese and the United States bombed Japan with nuclear bombs, their surrender was inevitable. With these events, Emperor Hirohito of Japan forced the members still fighting to accept the terms for ending the war. The surrender of Japan officially brought the hostile behaviors of the Axis Powers to an end.
